Developing midwives to Africa’s rebirth

Lincoln Mali Leadership Foundation

The Lincoln Mali Leadership Foundation was launched on 6th October 2022. It brings together new initiatives and various community development initiatives that Lincoln Mali and his wife Sva Mali have pioneered over the years.

Our mission is to develop the next generation of young leaders to become midwives for Africa’s rebirth. We achieve this through Sports DevelopmentLeadership Development , Youth Development and Feeding Schemes in informal settlements.

Developing midwives to Africa’s rebirth

Ray Mali T20 Challenge

“I come from a cricket mad family; cricket has been played by my family from the 1940’s to now. The most famous of the cricketing Malis is my uncle, the legendary Ray“

Lincoln Mali

Oom Ray played the sport with passion and excellence but is most revered as an administrator. During his lengthy career as an administrator, he served as President of the Alice Cricket Club, chairman of Border Cricket, President of Cricket SA and ultimately President of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

To celebrate his retirement, Sva and I started the Ray Mali T20 Challenge to develop grassroots cricket in villages in the Eastern Cape, inspired by the late Mr. Ngumbela. Over the last 9 years, we have sponsored this tournament and the participation has improved each year.

Through this tournament, cricket teams in rural villages have unearthed talent that can be exposed to more developed schools and provincial teams. This year’s final, which took place at the Moko Sports Complex in Debe Nek, was very special. It was attended by South Africa’s Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Mr. Zizi Kodwa.

Feeding Scheme and Community Development

“We have learnt to fly the air like birds; and swim the seas like fish, but we have not learnt the simple art of living together as brothers.”

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

South Africa remains one of the most unequal societies in the world, where many people go to sleep without food, shelter or security. Over the last 15 years, Sva and I have supported a feeding scheme in Kwa Zakhele, Gqeberha, where I was born. Through this initiative, we supply food to impoverished children to give them the nutrition they deserve.
